Summer is almost here, so it’s time to SPRING for your
air conditioner’s scheduled maintenance!
EcoEnvironments understands that you may be maintaining your old AC (air conditioner) unit this spring or looking to upgrade to a new high efficiency model! Well, those of you in the market for new equiptment may find this questionnaire issued on behalf of the U.S Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star program very helpful!
It’s that time again! Mark your calendars for next week, Saturday, February 25! It’s the first day of the 2012 Cincinnati Home and Garden Show, and EcoEnvironments will be there front and center.
The EPA recently announced a new rule – see the news story here - mandating cleaner energy from even the oldest coal electricity plants. Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana are among 27 states that fall under this mandate. The EPA estimates that utility companies will need to invest as much as $800 million a year in pollution upgrades, beginning in 2014. And those expenditures will be passed on to consumers in the form of higher energy bills for those that rely on coal electricity – like we do in the Tristate.

Paying for Itself
One EcoEnvironments customer reported that her new geothermal system will pay for itself in just four years. Angi and Harvey Landholm had a system installed after a $649 energy bill in February 2010 shocked them into action. After the geothermal installation, the bill for the same month in 2011 was just $249.79.
"With the energy savings and up to 30% tax credit from the government, it doesn't make sense not to do it," Angi said.
